Savaran is Mark Walters from Wales in the UK. After developing an early interest in electronic music in the 1980’s he moved away from the music scene to develop a career as an Archaeologist. In 2008 he returned to music and records from his home on the Welsh border near Shrewsbury.
The debut album Strange Landscape is a mix of his ambient, electro-acoustic, experimental, soundscaping and electronic music. The music is created on a variety of software and hardware synthesisers and also utilises environmental field recorded material which has been converted into electronic sounds. Many of the ambient tracks have a rich, deep and haunting quality which paint pictures in sound of mysterious landscapes and unexplored horizons. In contrast with these more placid soundscapes there are a number of more rhythmic and beat driven tracks which span a range of styles from pure experimental to IDM and ethnotronic.
The music is inspired by the random daily events and occurences that life throws at you, landscapes, nature, environment, atmosphere, astronomy, past cultures and the indefinable need to make music.

Hi there
I’ve recently released two EP’s (one on cassette, one on cd), and i’d like to share them with you, for possible reviewing… I can send you the physical copies if you’d like, but maybe digitally works for you as well, you decide.
The digital versions are uploaded, and awaiting your download here:
*EDITED*
Please send me your address if you prefer the actual objects….
All the very best, Rutger

Likewise – I’d also like to send you something Mark.
Here are some tracks from the release: http://emphemetry.bandcamp.com
If you’d like a physical copy let me know and I’ll pop you one in the post.
Happy New Year,
~biff~
Hi Mark, nice website – i like your angle “landscapes, nature, environment, atmosphere, astronomy, past cultures and the indefinable”. Would love to send you some promos from the ephre imprint label (www.ephreimprint.eu). Can send physical copies if need be.
All the best, Nigel.
Hi Nigel
Thanks for the comment on the website
I would be happy to review some Ephre promos but bear in mind that I probably won’t get any new reviews out for a couple of weeks as i’m busy moving all of my music studio stuff and everything else over onto a new Windows 7 PC. My email address is mark*at*sunnymeade.plus.com High quality mp3′s would be fine with some info on the artists and cover images of at least 400×400 size. I usually get at least one review out a month on the blog and occasionally up to three.
Look forward to discovering the sounds of some Ephre artists !
All the best
Mark Walters
That’s great Mark thanks very much, I’ll sort something out over the Easter weekend. All the best, Nigel.
Hi, not sure if I ever thanked you for your review of ‘Slow Music For Rapid Eye Movement’ last year, and for adding it to your best of 2011 list – really flattering. I’ll get a promo download of a newer one – ‘Downer Supine’ on Entropy Records – to you very soon…

We’ve been really enjoying the features on your website and would like to get in touch about our own music and our own explorations with found sounds, music technology and instruments from other cultures- is there an email address we can contact you on?
Thank you,
John & Yash
Hi there
Sure, my email is mark*at*sunnymeade.plus.com
Look forward to hearing about your music. I’m afraid that I don’t have time to review everything that is sent to me, but I will certainly give the music a listen.
All the best
Mark
